What is Excellence?

http://tinyurl.com/jy34792
“Competition is an installment in the circuitry of human nature. It drives the race to greater heights and pushes the survival of human existence. Thus, as a pragmatic fact, individuals will separate themselves accordingly. There will be those who reach the greatest of heights and those who miss the opportunities to do so. Let readers not be mistaken, we do not live in a world where everyone is given the golden star. This blog will intend to address this theme of, competition, as the sports world prepares for the competitive push into this next month and college basketball’s March Madness.”
… This was my introduction to you in a blog nearly a month ago. Wonder as to if anyone gave what I had to say any thought or truly understood what it was I was trying to express. Well, it is to our benefit that we are in an era of a dynamic dynasty within Women’s NCAA College Basketball. With The University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball Team 98-38 win over Mississippi State (today), the Huskies are 119-1 since March 12, 2013.1They are currently 35-0 this season. UConn is outscoring its opponents in the 1st half, 167-48.2The team is heading into the Final Four and chasing their 12th National Championship in school history. These statistics would blow any basketball follower away. The Huskies are making basketball history, and yet at the same time creating national controversy. In a generation where many are deeming our youth as the golden star age, many are upset at such excellency and discrepancy in the score distributions of Huskie basketball games. In the Elite Eight game versus Mississippi State, UConn went up 32-4 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Huskies are heading towards the Final Four and just rolling over the competition. The University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball team members are ultimate competitors. They have created a different standard for themselves and the game. They have separated themselves from any other women’s team to ever play. UConn Head Coach, Geno Auriemma, stated today in a post-game interview, as I heard it, that they play the best game they can play and it’s the other team's’ responsibility to keep the score close. May you push on towards greatness UConn Huskies and continue to demand of others to do the same.
